Campus Missionaries are required to raise money ($5000) to benefit the ministry where they serve. Contributions are solicited with the understanding that the ministry has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds. The support for Campus Missionaries is a separate budget item and is allocated through the normal budgetary process for each BCM.

Campus Missionaries are in a temporary, exempt ministry position. Depending upon the number of hours worked per week and recognized level of experience (CM I, CM II, or CM III), the stipend can range from $185 to $1,000 every two weeks. However, the average, targeted stipend is $500 every two weeks for 10 months; in addition to the monthly stipend, the local BCM will work with applicants to ensure their housing needs are addressed adequately.

  • Consider early.  While the deadlines for Campus Missionary application will be during your Senior year, the best time to begin praying about such an important choice is during the year(s) prior. This gives you time to make a thoughtful, informed decision.

Structure your plans.  If this is part of God’s leadership for you, research the process, seek wise counsel and be intentional about making this service part of your post-graduation plans.

Talk to your Campus Minister.  Your Campus Minister can help you process and prepare, if they know being a Campus Missionary is something you are considering.  Make them your prayer partner as you seek God’s leadership.

Be open to multiple locations. Your current campus may or may not be the best fit for you.  It may be time for new challenges and a different perspective as you seek to grow. Your Campus Minister will help you consider all your best options.
