Other Giving Options

For those interested in supporting the work of TBMB and helping to reach more people for Christ through Legacy Giving, DAF Giving, and other non-cash giving options.

Legacy Gift

You can designate TBMB as a beneficiary of your assets by will, trust, or beneficiary designation form.

What are the benefits of making a legacy gift to charity?

  • You leave a lasting legacy to help reach more people for Christ
  • You lessen the burden of taxes on your family
  • You may receive estate tax savings

Donor Advised Funds

A DAF is a fund set up in your name that you can use to make gifts to charities that you support. The Tennessee Baptist Foundation can assist in setting this up. Their contact information is 615-371-2029 or tbf@tnbaptist.org.

How a donor advised fund works

  • You make an initial, irrevocable gift of cash or stock to fund a DAF
  • The assets in your DAF grow tax-free
  • You make annual recommendations on gifts to be made from your DAF. These gifts can be designated for Amy Hood Adoption Fund, Mission Dignity, TN Hunger Fund, Minister Wellness, Blue Oval City, Disaster Relief, etc.

Benefits of a donor advised fund

  • Establish a flexible vehicle for annual charitable giving
  • Benefit from a more tax and cost-efficient alternative to a private foundation
  • Receive an estate tax deduction and savings from your gift
  • Obtain a charitable income tax deduction in the year of your gift

Non-Cash Gifts:

IRA Charitable Rollover – also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

How a QCD works

  • Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to TBMB.
  • Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to TBMB.
    • Please contact us if you wish for your gift to be designated for a specific purpose.
  • Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
  • Please contact us to notify us if you are going to give from your IRA so we can handle it properly and provide the appropriate acknowledgement.
  • To make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), you must be age 70½ or older at the time of the distribution. (Keep in mind that your RMD [Required Minimum Distribution] age is higher {currently age 73} than the age you must attain to make a QCD gift)

Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $111,000 from your IRA to a ministry or organization
  • May be used to satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions
  • Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
  • Help further the work and mission of TBMB
