NASHVILLE — Randy C. Davis, president and executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, voiced his support for a resolution signed by Gov. Bill Lee that designates June as “Nuclear Family Month” in Tennessee.

The month of June has been recognized nationally as Pride Month since 1999.
“Any bright light that shines on the picture of God’s design for family is welcomed,” Davis told the Baptist and Reflector on April 16. “I appreciate the resolution signed by Gov. Lee because it will do exactly that.”
The amendment defines a nuclear family as one “consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children,” saying such a family “is God’s design for familial structure and has been the bedrock of society since the creation of the world.”
“The nuclear family is God’s perfect design for humanity and is aligned with the long-held traditional values of Tennessee,” the amendment says. “…The nuclear family is under attack in our beloved State and nation.”
The amendment also condemns the World Health Organization and the United Nations for “promoting sterilization and abortion practices.” B&R — Information from WVLT in Knoxville and WBIR in Knoxville were used in this story..
