GREENEVILLE — A Tennessee youth pastor faces charges of statutory rape and sexual battery after his own church turned him in to police.

Wesley Brobeck, 48, was arrested Saturday night at his Greeneville home, days after Freedom Fellowship Church reported alleged misconduct involving a 17-year-old girl to authorities Jan. 16.

White Pine police charged the former Freedom Fellowship youth minister with statutory rape and sexual battery by an authority figure. He remains held at Jefferson County jail.

Lead Pastor Scott Childs confirmed Brobeck’s firing in a Facebook post Sunday, saying the church is “fully cooperating with authorities.”

The church sits about 30 minutes from White Pine, where police are investigating the case.
