PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Come and join our East Germany Team in Leipzig, one of the most lost and quickly changing crossroad cities in Europe. You will experience what it looks like to make disciples in a post-Christian urban European environment as you and your team come alongside us and local church partners to reach the city for Christ through prayer walking, spiritual mapping, bold evangelism, and participating in introductory workshops for the spiritually curious. You will also participate in weekly worship services and weekly mentorship meetings with your supervisor. Ultimately, you will have the opportunity to learn skills and gain experience sharing your faith in a post-Christian milieu.

For over 1,000 years Leipzig has sat at the crossroads of trade and history in Germany. The city lies an hour away from the birthplace of socialism/communism in one direction and the Protestant Reformation an hour in the other. Local protests in 1989 led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of communist East Germany. Most eastern Germans are officially atheist or irreligious. Since the reunification of Germany, many younger people have not grown up with the taboos surrounding religion and spirituality. Many people in Germany are now spiritually curious but cautious of traditional churches.
