Experience two days of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains. Spend one night at Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center.
On the first day you will experience an approximately five-mile round trip on Alum Cave Trail to Alum Cave Bluff. The trail begins by crossing Walker Camp Prong and Alum Cave Creek on log bridges, leading hikers through an old-growth hardwood forest. Hiking through the narrow tunnel of Arch Rock is a highlight of the hike. As the trail climbs up Peregrine Peak, it approaches a heath bald full of mountain laurel and rhododendron, finally reaching a rocky outcrop known as Inspiration Point after 2 miles. This is a good place to view the rugged valley while surrounded by mountains. You will be 3,061 ft.
The second day we will Hike Porters Creek Trail: This is a beautiful & peaceful hike. This moderately difficult six-mile round-trip hike offers hikers a wooded hike with an old cemetery, creek views, historic buildings, and a 40-foot cascading waterfall. The lush and uncrowded setting makes it the perfect place to unwind. In addition, the wildflower viewing during springtime months is second-to-none. This serene hike offers plenty of vistas and history and is the perfect place to escape for an afternoon.
During this trip you will experience two days of beautiful scenery, no cell phones and good fellowship with mission- and ministry-minded women.
