BARTLETT — In just a few days I will be presiding over the 135th annual meeting of the Tennessee Baptist Convention. We are grateful for the warm hospitality of West Jackson Baptist Church for hosting this gathering. I hope you will make every effort to attend and be sure your church is represented with a full slate of messengers.
The convention will be preceded by an outstanding Pastors Conference that will help set the tone with excellent preaching and great music. David Leavell has done a wonderful job putting together the program for the Pastors Conference.
Our theme for the Annual Meeting is “Exalting Jesus Through Prayer.” It is my goal to keep that theme in clear focus during the convention. We want to handle every aspect of our business with prayer and taking great care that Jesus is exalted in all things.
Several speakers will be sharing interpretations of our theme during the sessions. I am especially looking forward to our Tuesday night session of worship together. The Celebration Choir & Orchestra of Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett will be sharing under the direction of Terry Easley. Your heart will be stirred by this great time together.
Some have suggested that our attendance may not be high because there are no controversial issues coming to the floor of the convention. I am looking forward to the day when our annual meetings experience an all-time high attendance simply for the joyful fellowship and sharing together around God’s Word. In this exciting season of transition, we should come together like never before!
Plan to join us in Jackson. I promise we are going to have a wonderful time in spite of limited controversies.
The sessions will be both informational and inspirational. The formal business on the floor is necessary, but the informal sharing together among friends is priceless. Invite your church members to attend and let’s fill the house!
