BRENTWOOD — After the first five months of the 2011-12 fiscal year, giving by Tennessee Baptist Convention churches through the Cooperative Program is ahead of last year.

In March, TBC churches gave $2,927,222 through the CP giving channel.

For the year-to-date, churches have given a total of $15,295,047. The amount is $283,317 or 1.9 percent more than what was given through the same time period last year.

The CP contributions also are near the year-to-date budget of $15,312,500, falling $17,453 or  0.11 below current budget needs.

TBC Executive Director Randy C. Davis expressed appreciation to Tennessee Baptists for their commitment to missions giving.

“As I have communicated with pastors, lay leaders, and churches across our state, there is an ever-growing commitment to reaching the lost at home and around the world,” he noted.  “This is being expressed by a patient but passionate increase in Cooperative Program giving. To be on budget and to see the increase over the giving from the same period a year ago is something to be celebrated. Thank you, Tennessee Baptists!”
