Vision Team Plans Meetings Across State
6/6/2012

BRENTWOOD — The Vision 2021 Strategy Planning Team will hold a series of meetings across the state beginning June 11.

The purpose for the meetings will be to provide information, respond to any questions and listen to feedback from pastors and leaders throughout Tennessee, said Danny Sinquefield, chairman of the Vision 2021 team.

Sinquefield and TBC Executive Director Randy C. Davis will represent the team during the statewide gatherings.

“The hope is that we will be able to provide focus to the vision and build momentum for our recommendations as we move toward the TBC annual meeting in November,” said Sinquefield, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Bartlett.

He noted the Vision Team reports includes three sections: a call to confession, a call to clarity and a call to cooperation.

Sinquefield said there are 10 recommendations in the current version. Recommendations range from an emphasis on revival to encouraging an increase in Cooperative Program giving by churches.

The report also identifies four ministry priorities for the TBC “that will provide laser focus to our work together as we penetrate the lostness in our state (more than 3.5 million people without Christ).”

Sinquefield said more details will be shared in the statewide meetings.

“It is our hope and prayer that each of these recommendations will be embraced and affirmed in our annual meeting this November,” Sinquefield said.

He noted that the Vision Team has spent over a year and a half “listening, praying and considering God’s direction for our state convention.

“We realize that more than 3,000 churches, our TBC Executive Board Ministries and our related ministry partners make up this great convention. The enormous sense of responsibility related to our work has been overwhelming at times,” he shared.

“The Vision 2021 Team is deeply grateful for the prayers and encouragement along the way,” he added.

Sinquefield encouraged Tennessee Baptists to make every effort to attend one of the “Bringing the Vision into Focus” meetings to be held across Tennessee in June.

“Encourage your pastor, ministry leaders, associational staff  and laymen to attend. We are especially hopeful that many of our bivocational pastors and ministry leaders can participate in the evening meetings. We look forward to seeing you.”
